Problem
All Houston, TX-area American Fast Food Company’s locations regularly experienced fines and levies from the local water authorities added to their monthly water bills for Grease Trap levels exceeding local limits set for the standard measurements taken from grease interceptor samples:
- Oil and Grease (O&G)
- Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)
- Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
Test
Two franchisees totaling 20 restaurants began using Global BioProtect’s FOG & Sugar Eliminator in Summer 2019 as a drain treatment to eliminate FOG, thereby eliminating/reducing their monthly grease trap fines levied by the water authority.
- Grease Trap interceptors were sampled “pre test” before BioProtect treatments began
- BioProtect usage began in Summer 2019 after the initial baseline sample results were received.
- Grease Trap interceptors were sampled and tested weekly for 12 weeks for O&G, BOD, and TSS.
TREATMENT PROTOCOL
- Drains super treated (3 x 8 oz treatments per week for 2 weeks)
- Maintenance treatments for remaining 10 weeks were standard 8 oz per drain 1x per week.
- Average monthly usage of BioProtect was just under 1 case per month (4/1 gallon case size)
